Neuroendocrine Research

University of Michigan, Life Sciences Institute

During my internship at the University of Michigan Life Sciences Institute, I investigated the neural mechanisms underlying genetic metabolic disorders, with a particular focus on monogenic and syndromic obesities affecting the MC3R signaling pathway. Working alongside Dr. Roger Cone, PhD, and doctoral researcher Yanan Wu, I contributed to research examining how targeted therapeutics modulate neural activity and their potential to inform future treatment strategies. Through this experience, I gained firsthand insight into the collaborative nature of biomedical research while developing laboratory techniques, quantitative imaging skills, and scientific data analysis in a dynamic research environment.

entrepreneurship

EM Radiance

I founded EM Radiance, a science-driven skincare company focused on scar support, barrier repair, and sensitive skin. The company was inspired by my experience living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a connective tissue disorder that affects wound healing and can lead to difficult scarring.

While researching the science of skin repair, I became interested in how clinically supported ingredients and thoughtful formulation design could be used to create products that prioritize both efficacy and skin health, including trademarked ingredients like TECA® and iActive Ceramide PGF®. EM Radiance combines that research-driven approach with a mission to support others facing struggles similar to mine. Today, the company partners with dermatology and cosmetic practices and supports the Ehlers-Danlos Society® through ongoing fundraising and advocacy efforts.

care beyond treatment

Care Pack Campaign

The Care Pack Campaign is our student-led initiative dedicated to bringing comfort and encouragement to pediatric cancer patients during treatment. Founded to support children through the emotional challenges of extended hospital stays, our team assembles thoughtfully curated care packages filled with activities, comfort items, and personalized notes that provide moments of joy and connection.

In partnership with C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, we deliver care packages during Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, reflecting our shared mission to bring comfort beyond medical care and to remind every child that they are supported throughout their journey.
